As Seth’s sophomore year of high school came to a close last June, and kids his age were preparing for vacations and relaxation in the summer sun, Seth was preparing for a different experience. Seth had been diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition and would have to spend his entire summer in and out of the hospital and endure a labor of treatments. But Seth kept a big smile and a strong mind as he went through those difficult months. A kid like Seth, with such a powerful amount of hope, strength and joy running through his body despite his struggles, could not be more deserving of a wish come true.
When the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Connecticut asked Seth what his one true wish would be, he had already spent a great deal of time thinking about such a question. Having missed out on an entire summer, and knowing that the upcoming academic year would only bring on a new wave of difficulties, Seth decided it was important to him and his mother to take a vacation from the real world…a vacation they missed out on before.
Seth wished to go to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, where he enjoyed the incredible water slides and pools beyond his wildest imagination. Seth also had the opportunity to dine at the incredible restaurants owned and operated by some of the finest chefs in the world, not to mention the incredible experience of actually swimming with stingrays! But most important of all, Seth was able to just be a kid. He was able to spend time with his mom, who stood by his side throughout his toughest moments. Their vacation to paradise in Atlantis gave them both a chance to relax and enjoy being a family.
“I just couldn’t wait any longer to let you know what a great time we had and to thank you, Make-A-Wish, and all the people who make these trips happen. We will always remember this. Thank you!!!” - Seth’s Mom
