Make-A-Wish® Connecticut is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. William Feher to its Board of Directors, where he will assist in the Make-A-Wish mission to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
Along with his wife, Teresa, and their four children, Mr. Feher lives in Trumbull, Connecticut, where he first engaged Make-A-Wish in 2014. During this time, he volunteered to assist the Make-A-Wish Finance Committee, met the Board of Directors, and was amazed by the organization and its people.
“The past few years have only strengthened my admiration for the work that Make-A-Wish does in our community. I’ve really seen the passion that everyone in the organization brings to their work, and I’ve experienced even more deeply the impact it has on children and their families. I am proud to be able to contribute to Make-A-Wish while also setting a good example for my own children that it is important to give back to others.”
Mr. Feher is a Certified Public Accountant at ITT Inc. in White Plains, N.Y. At ITT he holds the position of Vice President of Internal Audit and Chief Risk Officer, where among many other responsibilities, he audits the effectiveness of financial controls and accounting, and oversees the ethics compliance program. Mr. Feher also has previous experience, gained from over 20 years of community service, managing the finances of a nonprofit organization. He is currently culminating his current Presidency of the local Institute of Internal Auditors chapter where he has been a board member for nine years.
Given his background – including his financial and non-profit experience as well as his dedication to continuous improvement – Mr. Feher hopes to bring a future-oriented and collaborative perspective to the Board.
“What we really want to do is work in a collaborative way to ensure that we position Make-A-Wish for the long-term. We need to keep looking forward and thinking about how we expand the work we’re doing while, at the same time, ensuring that we have effective cost management controls. That will allow us to reach as many children as possible and further enhance the impact of Make-A-Wish in our area.”
