Summer of Wishes

Beach towels, cooler full of ice-cold soda and plenty of sunscreen—it may sound like your packing list for an average summer day at the beach, but for some families it’s quite literally a wish come true. This summer, Make-A-Wish Connecticut will grant more than 90 wishes, including a wish to stay in a beach house in Massachusetts and one to take a family vacation to the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

For our families, these simple summer wishes are the ultimate escape from the day-to-day challenge of battling a critical illness. Even better, they actually have the power to heal. Having something to look forward to can help our wish kids power through treatment and stay positive in the face of seemingly overwhelming obstacles.

As you make your own summer plans, consider helping a child find strength and joy through a life-changing wish journey.

Nico’s Lemonade Stand

Nico's Lemonade Stand will be up and running again this Summer! On July 15th, Nico’s Annual Lemonade Stand will raise money once again for Make-A-Wish® Connecticut. This is the 9th year that Nico will be setting up his table. The Lemonade Stand started in 2010 when Nico went to his father, Kyle Fasold, and asked to have a lemonade stand. Nico chose to donate all proceeds to Make-A-Wish, “because it helps kids dreams comes true”.

Nico's  Lemonade Stand will be open July 14th from 10AM - 2PM at the bottom of his driveway, located at 109 Northwest Drive in Plainville. Items for sale will include Lemonade, Cookies, Cotton Candy, Homemade Apple Fritters, Popcorn, Snowcones, and more!

Sunflowers for Wishes

The 15th Annual Sunflowers for Wishes at Buttonwood Farm in Griswold will be in full bloom from July 21st through July 29th!

More than 450,000 sunflowers are expected to bloom on fifteen acres of farm land yielding sunflower bouquets that will be sold to benefit Make-A-Wish Connecticut. Also returning to the farm this year will be the Buttonwood Farm hayrides through the sunflowers, bringing joy and happiness to everyone who visits.

Duane Button and his family donate one hundred percent of the proceeds to Make-A-Wish® Connecticut, to create wishes for local children battling life-threatening medical conditions.  Sunflower-themed t-shirts and notecards will also be offered to help support Make-A-Wish.

And don’t forget to purchase one of Buttonwood’s own famous sunflower ice cream cones, made right there on the farm!
